Self-styled Africa’s strongest man Conrad Njeru Karukenya aka Tiger Power was given a befitting send-off at his home in Embu County on Saturday.
The funeral service held at St Paul's Catholic Church, Kevote, was attended by hundreds of mourners, among them Embu Governor Martin Wambora.
Tiger Power, who died on New Year's Eve, was eulogised as a devoted and industrious sportsman who used his talents to entertain the world with super amazing stunts such as having a 4X4 SUV vehicle run over his belly, weight lifting, breaking nails using his hands or teeth, to mention a few.
Despite his fame and abilities, mourners observed that Tiger Power remained a humble and peaceful man, who never provoked anyone to a fight.
Wambora acknowledged that Tiger Power performed and represented the country in sporting competitions in Africa and Europe, where he emerged second for the title of the strongest man in the world.
Other notable figures present at the funeral service included Embu Deputy Speaker Steve Simba, Nominated MP Cecily Mbarire and Kenya’s Strongest Man Competition managing director James Mbugua.
Tiger Power was born in 1946 and is survived by seven children and tens of grandchildren.
