Musicians, Sound Designers and Film Composers : Apply for 2019 Media Sound Hamburg scholarship

Media Sound Hamburg is calling on game musicians, sound designers and young film composers to apply for a scholarship to participate at the ninth edition of its summer academy in Germany from 9 to 18 August.

The scholarship includes free participation in all of the academy's masterclasses, workshops, forums and special events as well as accommodation and board worth €3 000 ($3 400).

Candidates can submit an online application here. The call is open to individuals under 35 years old and the application deadline is 1 May.

Media Sound Hamburg announced Alice Ragoi from Nairobi, Kenya, as its first 2019 scholarship winner during the ACCES music conference in November. Ragoi is the second African who has won a Media Sound Hamburg scholarship in partnership with Music In Africa after Rethabile Nyamate travelled to Germany to take part in the action-packed summer school in 2018 (video below).

This particular call is open to individuals from around the world.

Lecturers who are already confirmed for Media Sound Hamburg 2019 include Randy Thom (Apocalypse Now, Return of the Jedi, The War of the Worlds), Glenn Kiser (Avatar, The Incredibles, Pirates of the Caribbean), Sue Harding (Quantum of Solace, In Bruges, I, Daniel Blake) and Adam Mendez (Florence Foster Jenkins, Exodus: Gods and Kings, Jason Bourne).

“We are working on our new programme," the Media Sound Hamburg website reads. "Already two international masterclasses are confirmed. Randy Thom comes to Hamburg again for his Masterclass Sound Design. The Masterclass Foley will be led by Sue Harding and Adam Mendez.”
