Stars gather in LA for Grammys tribute to country legend Dolly Parton

As we warm up this weekend’s Grammy awards host of stars from across the world of music have gathered to pay tribute to eight-item Grammy winner Dolly Parton.

Don Henley, Norah Jones, P!nk, Kacey Musgraves, Willie Nelson, Mark Ronson and Shawn Mendes were just a few of the big names at the Los Angeles event to pay tribute to the larger-than-life singer and songwriter for her incredible creative achievements.

Dolly has eight Grammy Awards, two songs in the Grammy Hall Of Fame, "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You," and received the Recording Academy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.

Dolly is also being recognised for her support of several charitable organisations, including the Imagination Library, which she founded in 1995 to support childhood literacy.

"Dolly Parton has always been and continues to be a courageous trailblazer and indomitable inspiration for creators and artists - so for us to have the opportunity to honor her at our annual MusiCares Person of the Year gala is to pay tribute to a true pillar of strength and someone who we all look up to and cherish," Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow said.

"Dolly also knows the power of philanthropy and she has used her stardom to contribute to a wide range of causes from natural disasters to education and literacy programs."

Dolly herself shared her delight about the event, saying, "I am so excited and humbled to be honored as MusiCares Person of the Year. It's even more special knowing the gala benefits music people in need. I can't wait to hear all of the great artists singing my music.”
